(Kincardine is a municipality located on the shores of Lake Huron in Bruce County) Government records show that he attestated on January 8th, 1916 at the age of 18 years with the 160th Battalion (Walkerton, Ontario) later serving with the 18th Battalion (London, Ontario) overseas in France where he received a bullet wound to the right shoulder. He discharged January 29, 1919 at the Number 1 District Depot, and was awarded the watch by the Mayor of Kincardine Ontario as a gift from the people of the town. Although not presently running, the watch has been checked and is complete with no damage and may require only something simple as a cleaning.
