1917 pattern, heavily oiled leather mask, with the smooth side to the interior. The leather is still quite supple. All of the retaining straps and fabric covered springs are intact with the glass lenses in place and having no damage. Field-grey painted, sheet metal filter attachment fitting at the bottom of the mask and complete and without damage. The mask is housed in the issue sheet metal hinged lift lid cannister that measures 6 3/4 inches in height and 4 1/2 inches in diameter. The cannister is period hand named to the top and bottom of the cannister with the name on the side of the cannister's fabric carry straps and has also has the soldier's initials in 2 places. The inner lid has the metal compartment that contains one extra shield out of the wrapper, and 2 extra shields that are still in the factory issue wrapper. SKU: 60583
