British Pattern 1822 Infantry Sword

Measuring 37 3/4 inches overall with a 32 1/2 inch pipe back blade being double edged for the last 9 inches. Gilt brass folding guard with sword knot slit near the pommel, and wire wrapped sharkskin grips. Steel scabbard with 2 suspension rings. Faint maker's marks to the left side of the blade, 'Buckmaster, William & Thomas, 3 New Burlington St., London' (faint) with some of the etching to the blade still being visible. Blade retains the original edge, with age discoloration and pitting present. Guard shows wear with an aged finish to the brass, and wear to the grips. Steel scabbard that fits tightly to the blade shows an aged finish with discoloration and patina, with a hole to the right side above the drag. A well used sword.
