Pre-WW1 Canadian Issue British Pattern 1850 Officer's Sword In Scabbard - C.M.S.C.

Measuring 37 3/4 inches overall with a 32 inch, slightly curved, fullered blade that is etched to both sides. Proofed to the right side of the blade , and maker marked to the opposite side, "W. Woods Maker, Bow Street, London". Steel 3 bar hilt with wire wrapped shark skin grips, and checkered rectangular thumb plate at the top. In the steel field scabbard with 2 suspension rings in place. Scabbard is stamped with a Canadian C-Broadarrow above a British Broadarrow, and maker stamped "Mole" above a single proof mark and the number "774".  Side of the scabbard, below the throat, is stamped "M.D. 11  C.M.S.C." above the number "5". (M.D. 11, British Columbia, Corps of Military Staff Clerks). Age discoloration and spotting to the blade with an even age finish to the guard, and light age coloration to the steel scabbard.
