Measuring 41 !4 inches overall, with a slightly curved, single fullered blade that measures 45 1/2 inches in length. Proof marked to the one side of the blade, and maker marked to the opposite side, "ROB'T MOLE & SONS, Birmingham, Makers to the WAR and INDIA OFFICES". Blade is etched to both sides for 18 inches with the one side having the presentation, "FIRST PRIZE SWORD EXERCISE, WON BY CORPORAL W.H. TRUBSHAW, C SQUADRON, YORKSHIRE DRAGOONS Y.C. 1895." Steel hilt with wire wrapped sharkskin grip and metal pommel. Housed in the issue nickel steel scabbard. The sword shows expected age wear with some small nicks present to the blade, and color loss to the sharkskin grips. Scabbard also shows expected age wear with some denting present, which is often seen. The sword is accompanied with the booklet, "The Uniforms Of The British Yeomanry Forces, 1794-1914, The Yorkshire Dragoons", that shows a full page photo of Corporal W.H. Trubshaw in uniform, holding the sword. There is also a photocopy of this page as well. A historical military item in all original condition. SKU: 63194
