The Sauer 38H was made from 1938 to 1945 by J.P. Sauer & Sohn. The German designation for this handgun was Sauer Pistole Modell 38 Hahn Selbstspannung (Sauer Pistol Model 38 Hammer Self-Cocking). The "H" in the model number indicates this pistol uses a shrouded hammer as opposed to striker style firing of earlier Sauer models. The Sauer 38H was used by German armed forces such as the Luftwaffe and was a favorite of the Fallschirmjäger. Marked to the left side of the frame, J.P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL, with the caliber marking, CAL 7.65 below. Right side of the slide marked PATENT. Waffen Amp stamped to the left side at the top front of the trigger guard, the back of the frame below he slide along with the serial number, and to the top back of the slide on the left side under the rear sight. Correct magazine in place showing the Sauer logo and caliber marking. The pistol shows a large amount of finish with some usage marks present as to be expected. The checkered hard rubber grip panels with the left showing the Sauer logo are in very good condition. Serrated rib to the top of the barrel.
