Pre-WW1 Antique 1867 British Cornish Pattern Cavalry Carbine
Measuring 37 inches in total length with a 21 1/2 inch round 58 Cal. barrel that is proof marked to the left side and held in place by 2 steel barrel bands. Lock plate is marked with the Victorian Crown, and Tower 1867. Full length English Walnut stock with a marked brass butt plate and forend cap, and a captive, swivel steel cleaning/push rod below. Unique, Snider style action that is marked "Cornish Patent" . 3 leaf rear sight with a blade front sight. Metal capped cork barrel tampion is present as is the steel and cork nipple protector with the brass retaining chain. Stock is stamped with the number "67" and also stamped with the retailer. The number "23" is also stamped into the underside of the stock ahead of the brass trigger guard. This was an experimental pattern gun that was never placed into production or service and only produced in very small numbers for trials. Most collectors are not aware of its existence . SKU: 56673
