Pre-WW1 Antique Canadian Issue India Pattern Brown Bess Musket 14th Battalion Digby Nova Scotia
Antique India Pattern Brown Bess musket, with period conversion to percussion from flintlock. Full length wood stock with a 39 inch round barrel that is proof marked to the side, and a front blade sight that also serves to lock he triangular socket bayonet in place. Brass furniture with issue steel ramrod in place. Side of lock is marked Tower behind the hammer with a King George Crown and a British Broadarrow in front of the hammer. Stock is period applied by hand marked to the 14th Battalion Digby (Nova Scotia) to the left side of the stock. Period woven cord repair to the wrist that has been there for a very long time, and possibly applied in the battlefield. Shows use, wear, and age. A well marked and historical early Canadian Arm.
