Antique Snider Enfield 2-band rifle chambered in 577 Snider. Single shot rifle with graduated rear sight, and full wood stock with a brass nose cap and issue steel cleaning rod in place that is all secured by 2 steel proof marked barrel bands. Side plate stamped with a Victorian Crown and maker marked Enfield with a proof mark above, and dated 1871. Top of the action stamped as Mk.III model with a proof mark and WD (War Department) stamp with Broadarrow to the side of the block. Single proof mark to the top of the steel butt plate, with a Roundel stamped into the right side of the stock with a "Crowfoot" stamp beside it. Left side of the stock Dominion Of Canada stamped (DC in a diamond) and marked "MGA", Montreal Garrison Artillery , with the rack number 122 below. Protective nipple cover with chain in place, and serial numbered to the inside of the block with a single proof mark. The 30 1/2 inch round barrel with bayonet lug has a nice even patina finish with 95% coverage and the wood with the original, and untouched color and finish with expected handling marks present. An older dark brown leather present to the 2 steel sling swivels. The bore is with strong rifling, clean, and with some brightness. Action functions correctly and locks tightly with a strong trigger spring. A very nice example with rarer markings. SKU: 61233
