Pre-WW1 Antique U.S. Model 1842 Ashton Military Pistol By H. Aston

54 Cal smoothbore percussion with a 10 1/2 inch barrel secured by a brass barrel band to the American walnut stock, with a brass butt cap and trigger guard. Lock plate is marked "U.S. H. ASTON" with " MIDDin CONN. 1850" behind the hammer. Two inspector marks to the left side of the stock with the barrel stamped "U.S. JH'. Captive steel ramrod in place. Functioning correctly with a strong spring. Originally finished in the white, now having turned grey overall with handling marks to the stock. Brass a has a nice untouched, even, aged finish.
