Pre-WW1 British Pattern 1821 Canadian Artillery Officer's Sword
Measuring 40 inches overall with a 34 1/4 inch, single edged, single fullered blade etched on both sides. Steel three bar hilt and backstrap, fish skin wire bound grips and domed pommel. Steel field scabbard with 2 suspension rings. Blade is maker marked to the left side, 'W.W.White, Military Outfitters, Woolwich' and proof marked to the left side. 17 inches of etching to each side of the blade with the flaming bomb motif and a beaver below. Canadian Maple Leafs below this with the etching of field cannon. Blade is very bright and clean with only light discolorations in scattered areas from age. Steel hilt shows a nice even aged grey finish turning brown to the interior, with the wire wrapping to the grips being tight and the sharkskin grips in very good condition with light color loss. Steel field scabbard retains approx. 70% of the original finish with aged patina in areas along the body of the scabbard. SKU: 56795
