Pre-WW1 British Pattern 1885 Cavalry Troopers Sword - 1st Hussars
Measuring 39 1/2 inches overall with a 34 1/2 inch flat back fuller blade, that is double edged for the last 10 inches. Checkered 2 piece leather grips secured with 5 retaining pins. Heavy sheet metal guard with a 'Maltese Cross' cut-out. Interior of the guard is stamped '1ST.H.' (First Hussars) with the rack number 198.Blade is bright with some age spotting present, marked to the top of the spine with a British Proof mark and the date number '90' (1890). Right side of the blade is maker marked 'ENF' (Enfield) with a British Broadarrow and proof mark, with the left side of the blade is stamped with the number '93' . Checkering to the grips is mostly sharp, with some wear as to be expected. The steel scabbard has a brown patina finish overall and denting present to both sides on the lower half. Throat is proof marked and also showing the date number '93' and date coded below to the side of the scabbard '4*1893'. SKU: 58314
