French Model 1866 Chassepot Bayonet Dated 1866

Measuring 27 1/4 inches overall with a  22 1/2 inch, slightly curved fullered blade, marked in script to the spine. Steel cross guard and release mechanism with solid, single piece, grooved brass grips. Serial numbered to the cross guard. Non-matching serial numbered steel field scabbard, produced in the white, with age discoloration and spotting.
