Sheet metal construction medical case with hinged lid and locking front and metal carry handles to each side. Measures 13 by 9 by 4 3/4 inches in size. Period applied naming to the top of the closure lid, Lt. Col. R.H. MacDonald, C.A.M.C., with the number 13 below a British Broadarrow to the lower right side corner. In very good condition. Case only with no contents or key. SKU: 62173

History:   Lt. Col. (Doctor) Ronald Hugh MacDonald from North Badeque Prince Edward Island Attested  as a Captain on September 11, 1914 in Valcartier, and served overseas in France as a General Surgeon, and was promoted in rank to Lt, Col., and later Major. He received a gun shot wound to the left leg at Vimy on April 23, 1917. He served in the Canadian Army Medical Corps 4th Field Ambulance Major Army Canadian Army Medical Corps 4th Field Ambulance Captain Army Canadian Army Medical Corps 1st Casualty Clearing Station as a Lt. Col., and later as a Colonel in the Canadian Army Medical Corps 2nd Division A.D.M.S. He was awarded the Military Cross on July 17, 1919 and then the D.S.O., Distinguished Service Order. He served until June 22, 1919, where he was struck of strength due to General Demobilization.
