Wool construction British made 5 button 4 pocket tunic with 'football' style buttons and 'stand and Fall' collar with 2 retaining hooks. Brass, 44th Battalion collar badges in place along with copper CANADA shoulder titles and C/44 numbered shoulder badges. Manufactures label in place to the interior, and British Broadarrow marked. Brass rifle proficiency badge in place to the lower left above above a single brass wound stripe. Accompanied with a Canadian P16 field canteen complete with the issue carry strap, with the leather carrier bearing the name ''W. Notman' that is period applied.2129662, William Notman from Hinton, Manitoba attestated in Brandon, Manitoba, 1st Depot Battalion M.D.10, listed in the 44th Battalion, and also with service in the 27th infantry Battalion, City Of Winnipeg. The tunic and canteen are both in very good original condition, both being exceptionally clean and complete. Both were housed in a private collection for 40 years, and were originally obtained by that collector directly from the family of William Notman.
