WW1 French Army Chouvet Model 1917 Brass Flare Pistol

Brass construction, single shot, single action flare pistol with a steel hammer, barrel lock lever, and spur trigger. 2 piece checkered wood panel grips with a steel lanyard ring below. Maker stamped "Chouvet, St. Etienne: to the left side of the part round, part octagon 4 1/4 inch barrel. Originally made for the 25mm flare cartridge, this item has had a steel 12 gauge barrel insert installed for the use of modern 12 gauge flares. Operating and functioning correctly.
