WW2 Canadian Army Number 58 Wireless Radio Set 1942

WW2 Canadian Number 58 Wireless Radio Set, housed in a hinged lid metal case measuring 5 by 5 3/5 by 13 inches with 2 canvas flap covered pockets and webbed material carry strap, with a large Canadian C-Broadarrow to the exterior.  Manufactures plate to the interior reading "Wireless Set 58 Serial Number C-450, Addison Industries Canada 1942", with the operating instructions to the interior of the closure lid. Set is complete with microphone and headset contained within the 2 front canvas pockets. Headset is in rough condition with damage but is original to the set.        

The No. 58 Set was introduced as a lightweight replacement of the Number 18 Wireless Set. It was technically more advanced and less conspicuous to carry however it did not come into widespread use primarily because of supply difficulties with the special combined battle battery making this a rarer WW2 item.
