WW2 German Kriegsmarine Navy Officer's Sword With Portepee

Measuring 34 inches overall with a slightly curved, fullered, single edged etched nickel silver plated, drop forged steel blade measuring 29 inches in length. The maker marked to the one side, W.K.C. with the company logo to the one side. The word has die cast, gilt plated, brass, hilt fittings that are decorated with oak leaves and acorns. swivel hinged clam shell cross guard, a reverse, swivel hinged tab, a ferrule, a "D", knuckle bow, a back-strap and a nicely detailed, pronounced lion’s head pommel with the red and green "jewels" inset into the eyes. The obverse, swivel hinged, clam shell cross guard can be set in a fold back or forward position. White celluloid grip with a central bulge, and triple, twisted, horizontally repeating, brass wire wrap that is all intact with a nice untouched aged finish. The sword is accompanied with it's original issue brass and leather field scabbard with 2 brass suspension rings and the issue portepee with fancy knotting around the grip. The blade is mostly bright with some discoloration and age spotting present. The leather on the scabbard shows some expected handling marks, but is with tight stitching and a nice and even patina to the brass fittings. SKU: 63443
