WW2 German POW Prisoner Of War Made Cigarette Case

WW2 German POW Prisoner Of War Made Cigarette Case constructed of aircraft aluminum, measuring 5 3/4 by 3 1/8 inches in the closed position. Hand applied designs to both the exterior and interior with a palm tree to the front, and "Nigeria" to the one side of the interior. The opposite side of the interior shows "HMS Woodruff, Nov 42-Nov.44". The front closure lid, and both sides of the interior show several names presumed to be the crew of the HMS Woodruff, with some showing fading. Accompanied with hand written provenance stating "Case made by German prisoner of war in Nigeria, West Africa, 1944". Notes above made by owner Lt. A.J.K. Jukes, RCNVR of Vancouver, B.C. in later life. Item was acquired directly from the family. SKU: 63096
