WW2 Japanese Army Officer's Shin Gunto Sword And Scabbard
WW2 Japanese Army Officer's Shin Gunto Sword And Scabbard
Measuring 35 1/2 inches overall with a slightly curved 26 1/2 inch single edged fullered blade. The blade appears to be Shinshunto Period, dating from 1764 to 1886, and is fitted with 1936 pattern fittings for military service. Makers marks to the blade have been removed, as is usually the case. The blade is bright and clean, and extremely sharp, with a tight, wrapped, ray skin grip and metal tsuba. The metal field scabbard shows some expected use and wear, with some finish loss, and some minor denting being present. The sword fits, and runs nicely in and out of the scabbard. The sword is also accompanied with a copy of a Valuation And Appraisal from Lanes Armoury, Brighton, East Sussex. SKU: 61105
