WW2 United States M3 Fighting Knife In M6 Scabbard 1943

An early WW2 U.S. M3 knife, measuring 11 5/8 inches overall with a 6 3/4 inch partially double edged, unmarked blade. Steel cross guard angled to the one end, and a shaped, staking leather handle to a steel grip cap. The knife is housed in steel on leather marked scabbard, stamped U.S. M6 MILSCO and dated 1943. Replacement repair to the top of the scabbard to hold the bely mounting hooks in place. SKU: 63996

The M3 was originally designated for issue to soldiers not otherwise equipped with a bayonet. However, it was particularly designed for use by elite or 'shock' forces in need of a close-combat knife such as airborne troops and Army Rangers.
